360-Degree view of an Account

The 360-degree view of an account with AI-generated summary

Posted on October 31, 2024October 31, 2024 By Jeroen Scheper

One of the features that was part of the 2024 Wave 2 Release is the 360-degree view of an account with an AI-generated summary. The cool thing about this feature is that it collects valuable information (in some cases configurable) and shows this in a nice and efficient way. The one thing I do question myself is, is this already a 360-degree view on an account or is it at the moment a 200-degree view of an account? Let’s discover how it works and how you can configure it yourself.

When you have an account open in the form and launched Copilot from the right panel, at the bottom you can then use the prompt guide and select Summarize Account or just type it in if AI prompting is already your second language 😎 When you look at the 360-degree view of an account that is generated there are three components to it:

  • Basic information; As it said, this is basic information but you can’t control or configure which components are part of this
  • Key information; This is the AI-generated summary of the account and you do have control over the information shown in this section
  • Leads, Opportunities, and Cases; These are associated records to the account but unfortunately you do not fully control which “related entities” are showing here. Yes, you can configure if you want to show Leads, Opportunities, and Cases, but other related entities are not possible at this stage. To me, this is a crucial functionality to have in order to give a full 360-degree view of an account.

Setup 360-degree view of an account

Follow the next steps to set up and configure the 360-degree view of an account:

  • Open the Sales Hub App
  • Navigate to the App Settings area
  • Select Copilot in the General Setting of the menu
  • Within the Setup area, you can determine where you want to make Copilot (in general) available. The 360-degree view of an account is part of that. In my configuration, I have enabled Copilot on an individual app basis for only the Sales Hub

Configure the AI-generated summary

As mentioned earlier in the blog post, you do have control over the AI-generated summary in the Key information section. In order to configure this to your needs you need to navigate to Accounts in the Copilot menu.

You can use the +Add field button to add new fields to the summary. The cool thing about this is that it also allows you to add data from related entities of the account. At the moment you need to define at least 4 fields and there is a maximum of 10 fields that you can configure for the AI-generated summary. If you want to delete fields then it is as simple as selecting the field and the recycle bin will appear to allow you to delete it.

When navigating to Recent changes you can identify which information can be used in the AI-generated summary. The information that is used for this, is coming from the Audit History. If you don’t have the Recent changes tab visible then this is likely caused by the fact that global auditing is switched off. On top of this, this does require you to review the auditing settings on your tables and columns. If you need help with setting this up, then please check the Microsoft documentation for this here

Customize related info

When navigating to the Customize related info button you can configure which of the predefined related entities Opportunities, Leads and Cases you would like to include in the 360-degree of the account. As mentioned at the beginning of my post, I really hope that functionality will be extended so you can add other (custom) related entities of the account table, with for example a maximum to keep the performance good.

Overall the 360-degree view of an account offers a really good overview of the account. With a few enhancements like allowing custom / more tables to be part of the related information section would be great. The one thing I did notice and perhaps you were able to resolve is getting charts into your 360-degree view. When looking at the documentation from Microsoft (Get 360-degree view with account AI-generated summary | Microsoft Learn) it does show a chart per related entity but unfortunately, I was not able to configure this myself. If you do know how to do this, then feel free to drop a comment on this below.
