Magic needed to get deleted records back?

Is there any magic needed to get deleted records back? luckily this is possible now and without any magic. There is now an option, which is still in preview so good to bear in mind that this can change potentially, where Admins can restore deleted records.

How to set it up?

In order to switch this preview functionality on, please follow the next steps:

  • Open the Power Platform Admin Center
  • Select the Environment where you want to enable the setting for
  • Navigate to Settings > Product > Features and then find the Recycle Bin (Preview) setting and enable it.
  • The last step is to define what the recovery time interval will be

How to get deleted records back?

How does that work from a practical side? For example, you delete a Lead record from the system. When deleting it you will get a popup that will ask if you are sure.

Once the record is deleted there is an option now to restore this. I personally believe that this does require a solid process for requesting a record to be restored. In order to do this follow the next steps:

  • Open the Power Platform Admin Center
  • Select the Environment where you want to enable the setting for
  • Navigate to Settings > Data Management and then find the View Deleted Records (Preview) setting.

You will get an overview of deleted records and now you have the option to Select a record and then Restore it from the menu.

“Et Voila”… no magic needed in order to get deleted records back.
