It is still in preview, but there is now an option where Copilot can draft emails or reply to emails that will make you more efficient. Helping with the length or the tone of your email is something that Copilot can easily help with. Is all of this authentic? probably not but it can help to generate a first draft and update from there. As one of the note sections says in the official Microsoft documentation (URL):
“The AI-generated content is just a suggestion. It is your responsibility to review and edit the suggested content to make sure it’s accurate and appropriate before sending your email“
How do we enable this feature?
- Open the Sales Hub app
- Change the area to App Settings
- Navigate to Copilot in the General Settings
- Select Setup
- You can enable the feature for all apps or as I have done in my scenario for just the Sales Hub app by selecting it in the Individual Apps list.

How Copilot can draft emails
In order to let Copilot draft emails, please follow the next steps:
- Open the contact record for example, but this could be any record where you can initiate emails from.
- Open Copilot from the right panel, as you can see the Email (Preview) is still disabled since you need to be in the email record.

- Create a new Email from the timeline
- Enter a prompt that describes your email, like the example below I created
“write an introduction email to John Doe about Padel Vamos and a summary of the history and propose 3 date/time slots in the next 2 weeks for a face-to-face meeting“

- Once the draft of the email is generated you can adjust it by changing the tone to Formal, Professional (default), and friendly. You can also adjust this later once you have added the draft to your email using the Add to email button.
- Select Add to email button and the draft will be copied to your email. In addition you can also use the Copy button and paste the draft into your email.
One thing I do want to mention when testing this functionality myself is that I need to use the Email form. If I would change this to for example another system form like Enhance Email the Add to Email button would not do anything for me.

You can go over this iterative process of describing Copilot what you want using the options from the three dots at the bottom of the screen:

- Start Over – start an entire new prompt
- Try Again – let Copilot generate a new draft based on the same prompt
- Restore last version – restore to the last version you have created
Adjust the email with Copilot
Once the initial draft is copied to your real email, it is now time to fine-tune this yourself. Even for this step, you could Copilot let do a first stab at it by using the Adjust with Copilot functionality where you can adjust the Length and Tone of the different components of the email by selecting the text first.

I think this is a great feature that can definitely help make you more efficient when it comes to drafting emails. The one thing I am personally missing a bit is that you would be able to store your prompts so they can be reused a lot quicker.
